Chelsea & Rose Sourdough Workshops

Sourdough 101: Starter to Loaf

This beginner-friendly workshop walks you through the full sourdough process from starter care to baking.

We’ll talk about what your dough should look and feel like, how to know when your starter is ready, why timing changes from kitchen to kitchen, and what to do when your loaf is flat, gummy, dense, overproofed, underproofed, or just plain weird.

Because sourdough is alive — and sometimes it has opinions.

You’ll learn:

How to feed and maintain a sourdough starter
How to know when your starter is ready to bake
How to mix and develop dough
Stretch and folds, coil folds, and what they actually do
How to read fermentation instead of relying only on the clock
Basic shaping and proofing
How to score and bake at home
How temperature, humidity, flour, and timing affect your bread
Common sourdough problems and how to fix them

You’ll take home:

A Chelsea & Rose sourdough starter
A dough mixed by you to finish and bake at home
A freshly baked Chelsea & Rose sourdough loaf
A printed sourdough guide
A small take-home starter care card
Confidence to try again at home

The Chelsea & Rose starter story

The Chelsea & Rose starter has travelled a little.

It began in Australia, was dehydrated and brought across the world, then revived here in Canada.

It’s the same living culture used in every Chelsea & Rose sourdough loaf — and now you’ll get to take a little piece of it home.
